Motivated!? Me!? You betcha!! Except work keeps getting in the way of my stitching!
This little ditty has been as much fun to stitch as it was to discover on the wall of the little shop in Georgia. This hails from the shop owner herself. An incredibly talented and interesting woman. Interesting because first impression is she is a bit of an ornery type with an occasional sarcastic wit that will probably send a few people packing… quickly. Unless of course you are from the Northeast and can give it right back in the same curt way. Careful now…not to be confused with bitchy…but definitely stick to your patient guns and she’ll come around. She is rather funny and incredibly talented. The name of the shop…Abecedarius in Marietta GA. The name of the piece, Jack-O-Letters. I doubt she’ll do a phone order…but hey…maybe you’ll catch her on generous day. She doesn’t have a web site so it’s up to you to find yourself in the Atlanta area and head on over to her shop. Contrary to the somewhat dated Caron Shop Highlight I redirected you to above, she works alone now. So occasionally you’ll find the door locked while she tends to (ahem) personal needs. No classes anymore either, but it’s worth the trip though.
Meanwhile, I’m hoping to have my second Halloween finish this weekend. About a third of the way into this I decided it would have been better stitched on a hand dyed dark grey fabric like Raven. Even though the crappy picture taking (mine) makes the fabric look dark…it’s actually lambs ear or some silly such name for a much lighter fabric.
I got news this week I will be returning to Albuquerque for work this month. Yay! Balloon Fest is next week…but I don’t return until the end of the month. A return to Phoenix is on tap most likely in January too…I’m actually going to try and schedule that trip around stitch night at The Attic. Oh lordy! I’ll be in trouble if that happens. Talk about motivation! The Attic is the Cross Stitcher’s motivational mecca!
