Interesting factoid that I KNOW you will sleep better tonight knowing:
During the Civil War a.k.a the War of the Northern Aggression, the Union named battles after the closest river or creek. The Confederates named a battle after the town (or nearest) the battle took place in. For example: The Battle of Manassas (to a Southerner) is known as Battle of Bull Run to a Northerner. Which is where we took our horses today. But wait! The plot thickens…there were two battles on this same battle field. They were a year apart. So…was one known as Battle of Bull Run and the other known as Battle of Manassas?
Well that depends which side of the fence you are sitting on. Seriously…It’s either the First (or Second) Battle of Manassas or the First (or Second) Battle of Bull Run.
Sorry, if I’m losing you…I’m pretty wiped out from the day. I was driving home thinking NaBloPoMo…what was I thinking!?
Regardless, it was another stellar Fall day and the yellow in the Fall Foliage is just electric this weekend. We rode for about 3 hours and even though much of the battle field is totally torn up because they have decided to return the woods back to what it looked like in 1861…that would be a field. It’s a mess, but the little bit of woods we did ride through were full of showering leaves and the smell of Fall. It was awesome. I have no doubt Johnny is sacked out in his stall tonight.

Yeah, at least you didn’t write about shoes. What were we thinking?
